MANDARIN M3® POCKET MODULE NOW AVAILABLE!

Boca Raton, FL, April 1, 2003 - Mandarin Library Automation announces the release of Mandarin M3 Pocket Module. This module harnesses the power of Palm® OS compatible devices with Symbol® scanners to offer a handheld solution for both M3 Circulation and M3 Inventory modules.

Convenience:

M3 Pocket Module is offered with either the Symbol SPT 1550 or SPT 1800 delivering convenience and functionality by enabling librarians to conduct Circulation and Inventory while moving throughout the library. A completely portable solution, M3 Pocket Module enables librarians to easily manage data.

This module has 6 primary functions librarians may use: Loan, Return, Reserve, Renew, In-House Circulation, and Inventory. Loaning a book is as easy as scanning a patron barcode and then scanning the item(s). If a barcode is unreadable by the scanner, the module allows for manual entering of barcodes. Transactions are uploaded when librarians perform a HotSync with a Circulation workstation.

Technology:

The SPT 1550 and SPT 1800 feature an integrated scan engine and conveniently placed scan triggers, enabling fast, efficient, and accurate data capture. The SPT 1550 has a touch base graphical interface, push button controls, and backlit 160 x 160 pixel display allowing easy viewing outdoors or in dimly lit areas.

The rugged SPT 1800 enables the M3 Pocket Module to perform practically anywhere. The housing is sealed for protection against rain and dust and withstands four- foot drops to concrete. Either model loaded with the M3 Pocket Module adds versatility and flexibility to the Circulation and Inventory modules of the M3 Core Package.
