Boca Raton, FL July 2011 - A letter from our Contest Winner

Dear Mandarin Automation Team,

I would like to thank you all for appreciating my submission for your photography contest, and I have been thrilled with my new ipad2! With my last tests of school completed, I have finally been able to set it up and it has become a useful part of my everyday life.

I plan on majoring in graphic design in college, and a gift such as this is sure to be quite a help to me in school, and will accompany me on many library trips to come.

With the start of summer, I have been primarily at my camp and I am planning to meet with Patricia Infantine, head of the library staff, to take a celebratory photo once I am able to make it back to Manlius. I will hopefully have the photo to you within a few weeks.

Thank you very much again,
Olivia Konys

OLIVIA KONYS Photo Contest winner

For the past three years, I have volunteered 2 hours per week at the Manlius Library. Though this time commitment is great, I have found it to be only a positive experience. My library is complete with a helpful and enthusiastic staff behind the counters, that embraces the feeling of home. With my school and other hobbies, I still take the time to spend extra hours at the library and find that there I can be efficient and helpful in my the community and my own life.

Our library had been completely redesigned a few years ago, and now it's elaborate entrance is one that many high schoolers such as myself pass through often. The tones throughout the library are muted, but enough so that it would create a warm atmosphere indicated by the sun that always shines over the roof at the time of day when school gets out, and the sepia overlay.

A combination of exterior and interior of the library combined into one photo captures the opportunities that the library presents within the first entry and the resources that the interior promises and lives up to compared to the contemporary exterior building.
